Western Regional Instrumentation Centre (WRIC), Mumbai, is an autonomous institution funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi. WRIC is engaged in R&D activities for the development of new instruments and technologies, including educational aids for effective training. The organization acts as a resource centre in instrumentation for more than 70 university science instrumentation centers spread all over India. At present, WRIC is the only regional instrumentation centre in India which has been recognized as a ‘National Facility Centre for Instrumentation’ by the government of India.
The managing committee at WRIC was interested in contracting a web development firm for establishing a web presence for the institute and more importantly for scheduling and managing all the activities within WRIC. The committee had several telephonic discussions and personal meetings with our technical and business development teams at Pegasus InfoCorp, for discussing the project requirements and scope for the university research software design. After several rounds of discussions, WRIC finally selected Pegasus InfoCorp for the design and development of their website.
For the WRIC institution website, we have developed a completely customized content management system (CMS) for managing information about their technical, analytical, optical, biomedical etc departments, within the center. Site administrator has the option of managing different ongoing projects, research work, book libraries, notes etc for the site, from the backend admin panel. The administrator has also been provided advanced options for managing and scheduling training programs, seminars, lectures and conferences through a complex ‘Program Calendar’ and the ability to post tenders and request for proposals through the website. Site visitors have the ability to book guest houses; conference halls etc through the site and can track the progress and delivery of instruments that are under maintenance and repair, through the site.
The client has been very satisfied with the overall delivery of the university web software development project and has sent in a lot of appreciation and positive feedback to our team – The clients have commented “We really liked the structure of communications.
