A Fortune 500 internet major (one of the world's largest global online network of integrated services with more than 500 million users worldwide and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California) was looking for a partner to help build it's internal MIS System. This to build a corporate intranet software for their corporate finance division. The software would integrate with other internal software systems and shall contain provisions for facilitating the client and it's affiliates in managing their financial records.
The client wanted to outsource this software development project to a software development company with deep domain and technology expertise in building web / browser based software. Pegasus InfoCorp was chosen as their software development partner for this project after an extended evaluation of several software development vendors over 6 months - which included technical, project management, process maturity, infrastructure, costing, referential clients, past work evaluation and senior management capabilities.
The web based MIS (Management Information System) starts with the operator and circle management - to manage operators with which the client maintains business relationships, different circles of each operator - and services/ profiles of each circle. Specific customer services for each operator are manageable - including the pricing, taxation and profit sharing arrangement for each individual service. The client's service grouping and mapping with each individual operator services is provided, along with the ability to input past/ chronological data for service mapping between specific date ranges. Service usage tracking is carried out by integrating with the the client's existing internal systems - to track the service usage of each service by each circle of each operator (based on the service mapping with each operator). Also, there is a provision to modify the service usage based on actual reports per operator billing. There are detailed costing and profitability modules to analyze the profitability of the client for each service of each circle of each operator - on a chronological basis between different date ranges. Also, there are detailed projection reports to estimate/ calculate projected revenues for each operator for a specific month. Several complex reports are possible (e.g. variance between the the client's billing figures and the operator figures between a specific date range based on service mapping during that time) along with the ability to export/ print / email them. Several levels of user logins/ adminstration logins are provided with read only/ read and verify/ read, verify, modify types of reports. Besides this, there are several smaller features such as currency conversion based on historical exchange rates on a monthly basis.
The software was built and delivered on the agile / iterative development methodology. Each phase started with the team building a detailed scope of services after understanding requirements from different departments. Screenshots, user flow and database architecture were built next, leading to the final development of the software on an agile team basis. Deployment was carried out in a phase wise manner, but integrating the latest release with earlier releases. Development tools included Git (source code management), Selenium (automated browser based testing), Cobertura (code coverage), Jenkins (continuous integration), PHPUnit (unit testing) and SONAR (code quality analysis).
Pegasus InfoCorp is proud to partner with the client as a premiere software development vendor for the developing their inhouse MIS software.
