Oblivion whacks Godfather hopes
The fantasy role-playing game The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has seen off a challenge from The Godfather to take the top spot in the UK games charts.
The critically acclaimed Oblivion for the Xbox 360 and the PC has become the second fastest selling title for Microsoft's new console.
The game of The Godfather film had to settle for second place, largely thanks to sales of the PlayStation 2 version.
In third place was Sony's Buzz! The Big Quiz, climbing up one place from four.
Nintendo to offer Sega classics
Sega's MegaDrive games console is getting a new lease of life thanks to Nintendo's next gen Revolution machine.
Sega is to make a selection of its best titles from its library of 1,000 games available to download to the console.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced the partnership at the Games Developers Conference in San Jose.
Mr Iwata also told delegates that a new Legend of Zelda title for the Nintendo DS, called Phantom Hourglass, would be released later this year.
Shadow of the Colossus honoured
Sony's Shadow of the Colossus has swept the board at the highly regarded Game Developers Choice Awards in San Jose.
The critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 title took home five gongs voted for by game makers, including the Game of the Year award.
It also walked off with Best Game Design, Best Character Design and Best Visual Arts, as well as picking up one of three innovation awards.
The other two innovation gongs went to Nintendogs for the DS and Guitar Hero.
