A mid sized IT firm with offices in England and Australia was looking for a vendor to develop a completely customized web application for the management of hotel and corporate room reservations. The client had built in-house an older version of the software several years back, and planned to upgrade to the latest technologies and frameworks. The client contacted several vendors for developing this SAAS solution for themselves and after several rounds of screening and discussions, the clients outsourced the web software development project to Pegasus InfoCorp. Over the years, Pegasus InfoCorp has built a strong and long term relationship with the client for the software product development project.
The client preferred the agile methodology for the web software development for better visibility of partially completed work and constant interactions with the development team during the different evolving releases.
As part of the initial releases, we worked on a number of features for the business software such as daily and weekly diaries - that allow users to manage and track information on all bookings in the system, multiple views to show rooms at different locations, automatic waitlist handling for waitlisted bookings, managing of multi-point video conference calls etc. A very interesting feature supported by the software is the 'visitor tracking and history' based on the bookings made. The software also includes a 'quickfinder' option for users to be able to search for hotels, corporate room’s availability etc and make bookings online. The software also includes sophisticated 'repeater bookings' feature for recurring bookings and a very simple and easy-to-use multi-paste facility to replicate existing bookings easily. We have also created reporting tools for generating multiple reports, space usage summaries, detailed location plans etc at the different stages of the booking process.
This entirely customized software product development has been built on the Dot Net 3.5 framework with IDE Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005. The application is built to be compatible across all major browsers today. We are currently using SSRS for reports in the web application. For a rich look and feel for the web application and all front-end web effects, validations, AJAX etc we have been using complex JavaScript libraries such as JQuery.
In further releases of the software down the line, we would be delivering on several other features such as 'Outlook Integration' for making bookings through outlook, 'Lotus Note Integration', ‘Dynamic Reporting Tools’ etc.
