Tables and Frames:
Most of the website owners prefer to use frames on their sites. Frames can be used but there are too many problems associated with it which can not be ignored. However if website owners are persistent with using frames then it is advisable to create an optional no-frames set of pages for these users. In addition to these problems, Search Engine spiders also have difficulty in indexing a website or a web page with frames.
Tables are an effective alternative to frames. They can be used in combination with SSI – Server Side Includes which also assists in writing separate pages that can be included in another ‘main' page. The result achieved by using SSI callout in a table cell within the page is similar to that of a frame. This page looks a normal webpage to the browsers and search engine spiders.
Tables:
Tables help in creating amazing page layouts. You can put things wherever you want them to appear. The biggest drawback with using tables to create page layout is that all the content gets downloaded by the browser, before it can actually draw anything on the screen. This means that it takes up lot of time to download. This means that your visitors stare at a blank page for a long time till all the contents suddenly appear on the page. Definitely not a good way to make an impression on your site visitors!
Another error to avoid is not to create different layers of table within one table. The browser takes longer time to draw these tables as it has to make adjustments while drawing to fit in all the contents. Hence keep your table as easy as possible without too much of complications. Tables can also help in adding colours to a page or in attracting attention to a text placed in a coloured box on the page.
Organized content:
Place everything on your web page in an organized manner. It becomes very irritating when visitors visit your site and are not able to locate what they are looking for. Imagine the frustration they go through when they find your site in a mess. The best thing they will do is go to another site thus you end up being the looser as you loose your potential customers.
